About Us

Amy's Studio of Performing Arts is truly and 'old school' dance studio.  Named for its current owner and lead instructor, Amy Cave, the studio was founded in 1980 by a truly outstanding dancer and legendary instructor, Jackie Troup Miller (more on Jackie here).  Amy Cave started taking lessons from Jackie when Amy was just in elementary school and has literally grown up as a dancer, instructor and now studio owner under Jackie's mentoring (more on Amy here).  Even though the studio name has changed from the long-known and highly respected JTM Studio of Performing Arts to Amy's Studio of Performing Arts, the focus, methods and heart of the studio are unchanged.

Serving students ranging from preschool to senior adults, Amy's Studio of Performing Arts offers instruction in dance, musical theatre and acting.  Classes are organized by age groups and skill levels.  Dance classes range from sweet little ballet and tap classes for the preschool age group to high skill level classes for teens and adults.  And yes, we have boys enrolled and enjoying dance and musical theatre.   We design each class to be fun and age and gender appropriate.  Our instruction is guided by our passion for imparting to our students a life long love of music and dance.

Typically, new classes form in September and January as new students enroll.  Students learn fundamentals and techniques and work on one or more performance pieces for a late spring recital.  Classes for Ballet, Jazz, Tap and Hip Hop are offered along with Musical Theatre and Acting.  See "Getting Started" for more details about enrolling or "Our Programs" for more details on the course offerings and a calendar of key dates.
