For 2009 - 2010 tuition rates, click here. Q. Are your teachers certified? A. Yes, our staff is certified by nationally recognized dance teacher organizations. Teaching certificates may be viewed in our studio. Q. Is the studio the same as it was when it was called the JTM Studio of Performing Arts. A. Pretty much. See About Us for more details. Q. I am a teenager interested in Hip Hop. Do you have anything for me? A. Most certainly. Because Hip Hop pulls its fundamental steps from Jazz and Tap steps, it is important to learn some Jazz and Tap before taking Hip Hop. Contact us and we can discuss how to get you started. Q. Are your students really serious about dance or just having fun? A. Well, both. We have students who dance for the fun of it and as a hobby, but that doesn't mean they are not serious about achieving their own goals. We also have students who are out to achieve very high skill levels and see dance as possibly being a component of their future professional life. Former students are now enrolled at the college level in the performing arts or actively working in the field. Both types of students can have their needs met. And both groups should find it fun! Q. You say boys will have fun learning dance at your studio. How do you get them to feel comfortable in dance classes? A. We know how to make dance comfortable and fun for boys. We tailor classes to their unique needs and interests. Amy's oldest son is a student and enjoys being in classes with other boys. One thing we stress to boys is that dance is a sport and it is very athletic. Check YouTube for clips of the Nicholas Brothers to see just how athletic Tap Dance can be. Or check out who is proud to be called a dancer: like John Travolta and Christopher Walken in Hairspay or NFL stars Emmitt Smith and Jason Taylor in Dancing With The Stars. Or even note how many guys dance in music videos, they didn't learn those moves by themselves. Boys need dance for the same reasons that many of the girls take dance. To gain greater comfort in using their bodies for self expression, to gain poise and confidence and to develop useful social skills. It helps when boys enroll together with their friends. Having a class with three or more boys who already know each is ideal for creating a comfortable experience for new students. Q. Who is Amy? A. The studio is named for its owner and lead instructor, Amy Cave. See About Us for more information. Q. How do I find your studio? A. We are located in northwest Dallas a few blocks south of LBJ freeway at 11888 Marsh Lane, Suite 600, Dallas, Texas 75234. Click here to see a schematic of the location of the studio within the shopping complex on the northeast corner of Forest Lane and Marsh. For information and registration call: (972) 484-7900
